Trying to find out if Bitty Bubbles is right for your child?  Check out some of our Frequently Asked Questions.  As always, feel free to call us, too!  850-764-BITY

What age is a good age to start swim lessons?

Each child is different.  Most of our students start around 6 months. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children be in a formal swim instruction program by the age of 1.

Why should my child be in swim lessons?

Because water is fun… and safety matters. Swim lessons teach kids how to be safe, confident, and capable in the water — skills they’ll use for life, from pool days to family vacations and beyond.

Drowning is the leading cause of death in kids ages 1-4 in the United States, which is very scary. But, we can do something about it! Research shows that children who participate in structured, formal swim instruction are significantly less likely to drown than those who do not.

Studies show kids in structured swim lessons have up to an 88 % reduction in drowning risk compared with children who haven’t had lessons.

Beyond that, swimming is FUN, great exercise, and good for the mind, too! Studies also show kids who participate in regular swim lessons show improved focus, memory, discipline, and confidence - translating to better success in academics!

How many children are in each class?

The student to teacher ratio depends on which class your child is enrolled in.

For the Baby, Toddler and Advanced Toddler classes, we maintain a 6 to 1 student to teacher ratio.  In these classes - a parent or guardian joins the student in the water for the duration of the class.

Levels 1, 2 and Big Kid have a 5 to 2 student to teacher ratio.  These are the classes without parents in the water.

Levels 3 through 6 have a 6 to 2 student to teacher ratio.

How long is each class?

Each class is 30 minutes in length.  We recommend you arrive 5 to 10 minutes early for your class to ensure you can and/or your child can be in the water on time.

How warm is your pool?

It's heated to between 88-91 degrees year-round! (yeah, it feels nice!)

Do you have changing facilities?

Absolutely! We have changing stalls and unisex restrooms that can also be used for changing. Each restroom has a baby changing station for your convenience.

What should I bring with me each lesson?

If this is your first visit, here’s a quick checklist to help you prepare.

Bring with you:

Towel, Goggles, Swimsuit and/or swim diaper. Splash About’s DUO Swim Diapers or DUO Jammers are required for:

  • Children under 3 years of age
  • Older children who are not fully toilet trained or may experience occasional accident.

How long do your swim sessions/seasons last?

Bitty Bubbles is a year-round swim school, so lessons don’t end with a season. Your child will keep swimming and progressing until you choose to withdraw. One of our favorite moments is seeing swimmers graduate through our program and move on to swim team.

What is your cancellation policy?

To withdraw from a class, we require 30 days written notice.

Can I drop my child off and leave?

No. We require a parent or caregiver remain on the Bitty Bubbles premises during their child’s class. Children must always be accompanied by a parent or caregiver when they are not under the direct supervision of in-water instructors.

Can I join anytime?

Absolutely! Because we are year-round, there are no start and end dates. You can enroll at any time of the year, and any time of the month! If you join in the middle of a billing session, we will simply prorate the first month's tuition.

Do you offer make-up classes if we miss a week?

Yes, we do! We understand that schedules can change and life happens.

To receive a make-up lesson, simply let us know before your child’s scheduled class that they’ll be absent. You can reach us by text, phone call, email, or through the parent portal.

Here’s how make-up lessons work:

  • Make-up classes must be scheduled within 90 days of the missed lesson

  • Your swimmer must be actively enrolled to schedule and attend a make-up class

  • Make-up lessons are based on availability and may include swimmers of different ages and skill levels

  • Each swimmer is eligible for up to six (6) make-up lessons per year

Need to cancel a make-up class?
We kindly ask for 24 hours’ notice so we can offer that spot to another swimmer.

Missed make-up lessons:
Make-up classes that are missed or canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice cannot be rescheduled or credited.
